Hi Kathy, Is a subsidiary the same as an International NGO? That is the way you want to go. We became an International NGO almost 8 years ago and we didn't know at the time but that was the best way to proceed. You can do more with that status. I ...
I am looking for a full- or part-time paid NGO position in the Managua area, starting late June and for potentially one to three years. I just graduated with a degree in education and one in art, and I am interested in working with children, young...

Kathy, I am going to be in the Granada area on May 21. Are you around? I would love to get the chance to meet you and find out more about what you are doing. I am living in Managua now, so if that day doesn't work for you, we can meet some other time. Email me when you get the chance rodney.mc@gmail.com and let me know when could be good for you.
Hola Kathy,
Que bonito el sitio.
I'd like to know more about your organization.
Our groups (Bridges gets about 60 a year) can easily bring school supplies.

Hi Rodney,
Geralyn is amazing. It was my hope she might find time to join us here. She is a true teacher to me and she has so much insight to offer. Let's hope we can convince her to join us here. Is Gio in Managua, Granada or Atlanta? It is so nice to meet you.
I know Opportunity International. One of their major contributors is from Atlanta, I have met them all. I even met Geralyn here in Atlanta. I haven't had much contact with her since. Gio (my fiance) went to find her a couple of times and wasn't able to connect. If you see her in Granada, mention the guy she met in Atlanta in June of last year.
Thanks for creating this site! As mentioned in my profile, I will be moving to Nicaragua in late April. I hope to meet you soon after I arrive if possible. I may have some other resources you can use for Empowerment International. We can discuss them when I arrive.
Founder and Director of Empowerment International. We have been working with children outside of Granada for 5 years. Our aim is to get children into school and keep them in school as long as possible. We do this by not only supplying supplies to attend school but also by working closely with the children and their families to work through issues that would possibly cause the child to drop out. We also try to partner with other organizations instead of doing it all our selves. For example we work with PRONAT to put our teen girls into computer classes. We use the Clinca Alabama to care for our program participants. We are alway looking for more partners so our program can have more impact.
To learn what other NGO's are doing, share ideas, successes, challenges, processes and I would love for this to be a resource where people interested in NGO's of Nicaragua can come and learn about our work.
Where I work or wish to work in Nicaragua:
We work in a barrio outside of Granada near the Zona Franca, we also have started working in a rural area called Santa Ana de Malacos. It is not accessable by public transportation and is about 10km from Granada.
