Hi everyone,
My name is Katelyn. I'm 21 years old and currently attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I am working towards a major in International Relations with a minor in Spanish and Global Studies.
In early January 2010 I will be moving to Managua to live, study, experience language integration, and work until the beginning of June. I am also hoping to complete an international internship while I am there! I have been searching all over the internet for any type of lead as to where I would be able to intern, and I finally found this forum (which is a wonderful idea, by the way). I've found a few interests that I will be contacting soon, but I thought I would post this to see if anyone had any ideas or suggestions.
To fulfill my University requirements, my internship has to be applicable to the international relations major. For example, my advisor suggested helping a global healthcare organization, working with impoverished children, etc. I have studied spanish for 7 years, so I am comfortable speaking and understanding the language. I have some healthcare experience/interest as I am CPR and first aid certified, graduated from a pharmacy technician program, and studied pre-pharmacy for 2 years before I switched my major. I also have plenty of childcare experience as I have worked at a summer camp for the past 2 years as a counselor, office manager, project head, and volunteer activity coordinator. Any or all of these things may be a part of my internship, as long as it ties into international relations.
If anyone knows of an organization that would be interested in having an intern or if you have any ideas, I would be thrilled to hear them! In addition to this forum, I can be reached at lucas.katelynj@gmail.com.
Thank you so much!
Katelyn
